The Chair Company was HBO's most-watched comedy series debut in five years

The Chair Company is not taking a seat.

On Nov. 30, season 1 of the HBO comedy starring Tim Robinson came to an end, with lingering questions remaining about the "vast criminal conspiracy" that his character, Ron, attempted to uncover.

Ron's quest began in the premiere episode, after an embarrassing moment occurred when a chair collapsed under him during a work presentation. After the humiliation, Ron was determined to prove that it was no accident, but his sleuthing only led to more mysteries.

Over the season, Ron's paranoia took over his life and the lives of those around him, including his wife, Barb, played by Lake Bell.

"I think what people really respond to is the fact that it is so unexpected and that while it's very relatable and accessible," Bell told the New York Post in November 2025, while discussing the success of the series. "This is a family that you could see anywhere – and yet, there are things behind the curtain that allow for this anxious hilarity to ensue."

So, with the first season of the HBO show now over, here's what to know about The Chair Company season 2.

Will there be The Chair Company season 2?

Sarah Shatz/HBO

Tim Robinson and Lake Bell in 'The Chair Company'

Yes, The Chair Company has been renewed for a second season.

The announcement was made in November 2025, when HBO revealed that The Chair Company and I Love LA — starring Rachel Sennott — had both been greenlit for sophomore seasons.

"We're thrilled by the incredible response to The Chair Company and I Love LA," Amy Gravitt, HBO & HBO Max comedy head and HBO programming exec VP, said in a statement, per Variety. "Both shows confidently carry on the HBO comedy tradition, in their own singular way."

She continued, "We couldn't be happier to continue collaborating with Tim, Zach [Kanin, The Chair Company co-creator], Rachel, and their exceptional teams."

Will Tim Robinson return for The Chair Company season 2?

Sarah Shatz/HBO

Tim Robinson in 'The Chair Company'

Robinson is the star and co-creator of The Chair Company, so he will likely come back for the second season, although this hasn't been officially confirmed.

In addition to The Chair Company, this year, Robinson starred in the film Friendship, with Paul Rudd, which hit theaters in May 2025 and was added to HBO Max later that September.

What will The Chair Company season 2 be about?

Sarah Shatz/HBO

'The Chair Company'

Several questions remain unanswered at the end of season 1 of The Chair Company, including the identity of the person behind the conspiracy that has consumed Ron's obsession.

In a November 2025 interview with TV Insider, Lou Diamond Phillips, who plays Ron's boss, Jeff, teased that he believed the season 1 finale "will be a springboard for things that will happen in Season 2, so spoiler alert, they don't kill me yet."

"I like where this is going potentially," the actor added. "I think it's going to create some real interest in who Jeff is and what Jeff's arc is."

Even when season 2 rolls around, don't expect to know too much going in, just the way the creators prefer it.

"When I watch a show or a movie, I don't want to know anything about it," co-creator Zach Kanin told Vulture in September 2025. "I would want to just be surprised by everything."

When will The Chair Company season 2 premiere?

A release date for The Chair Company season 2 has not been announced.

The eight-episode first season premiered on Oct. 12 on HBO and HBO Max. The series was a ratings hit, with it being "HBO's top freshman comedy in platform history," according to Variety.

Deadline reported that The Chair Company was the network's "most-watched comedy series debut in over five years."

New legal documents show the financial details behind Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan's 2024 divorce settlement

Both stars will receive 50 percent of the other's pension benefits accrued during their 2009–2018 marriage

During divorce proceedings, Dewan had clashed with Tatum over profits connected to the Magic Mike franchise, which she argued was developed during their marriage

Details around Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan's divorce settlement have been revealed.

Legal documents filed on Wednesday, Nov. 26, reveal financial details of the September 2024 settlement to finalize the divorce between Tatum, 45, and Dewan, 44.

The pair, who met on the set of Step Up in 2006 and tied the knot in 2009, separated after nearly nine years of marriage, with Dewan filing for divorce from the Roofman star in October 2018. They share joint custody of daughter Everly, whom they welcomed in 2013.

During their years-long divorce proceedings, Dewan's attorneys maintained that Tatum's 2012 hit Magic Mike was co-financed with marital funds during her relationship. The actors clashed over the profits connected to its subsequent franchise: Dewan argued that she was owed half of its profits, while Tatum's legal team argued he had never withheld finances from her.

The new documents indicate that under the Screen Actors Guild-Producers Pension Plan, both actor-producers received 50 percent of the other's retirement benefits accrued only during their 2009–2018 marriage. Benefits are calculated by dividing pension credit earned during marriage by total pension credit earned.

Tatum was a producer on Magic Mike and its 2015 and 2023 sequels, and is involved in both a Las Vegas live show and HBO reality show affiliated with the Magic Mike name.

He and Dewan both produced the three-season Step Up series, based on their movie, which began airing on Starz in 2018. Tatum has also since produced his recent movies Blink Twice and Roofman.

The formerly married actors "are good now," Tatum said in a Variety cover story in September, "but it was a painful break to have that fall apart, especially being so young. We tried to keep it together. ... It's in the past."

Following the divorce, Tatum was engaged to Zoë Kravitz from October 2023 to October 2024, and has since been linked to Inka Williams. The two made their red carpet debut when the model, 26, supported Tatum at the L.A. premiere of his movie Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle alongside Everly in September.

Dewan has been engaged to Steve Kazee since 2020, and they share two kids together.

Bernie Kopell is proud of everything The Love Boat achieved.

The actor, 92, caught up with PEOPLE at Princess Cruises' Love Boat Celebration at Sea, where he recalled how the odds were stacked against the beloved series at its inception. Not only had it taken three pilots to get the show off the ground, but early reviews weren't kind.

"The first review we got from this a------ at the LA Times said, 'It's going to sink like the Titanic,'" he recalls.

Years later, fans are gathering and reminiscing with the cast as they share their appreciation for the show. Fans even continue to write to the cast, with Kopell noting, "I got a lovely letter from Germany."

Thinking back on getting the role of Dr. Adam Bricker, Kopell says he "felt so lucky" to join the show.

"[After the] audition for that role, [I was] waiting for months. I'm calling my agent, 'Do we know anything? Anything?'"

One day, he got the answer he hoped for, "[He said,] 'You got the f---ing part!' Oh, yipee!"

Kopell is touched by how much love he's gotten from fans throughout the years, sharing, "I had doctors come up to me, one particular doctor on one of the cruises. He came and he said, '[You] stand by your patients, and you're kind to them and you're helpful and you're competent.' "

Laughing, Kopell adds, "It's in the script. I have to be that way."

When it came to developing Dr. Bricker, Kopell recalls, "There were some late-night meetings about how to name this guy, so I have a background [when] directing the pilot and he said, 'Well, the guy chases the ladies. He's a bit of a pricker, isn't it?' I said, 'Well, we can't call him back. We have to change the P to a B.' And that's how it came about," he laughs.

Stars Lauren Tewes, Fred Grandy, Jill Whelan and Ted Lange, as well as recurring guest star Charo were all aboard for the unforgettable fan experience.

Kopell still revels in the close bond the surviving cast members share, noting, "We became the second family to each other."

During a recent interview with Taste of Country Nights, the musical duo opened up about how the "Stay Country or Die Tryin'" artist loves to "kiss" his friends.

It was Shay Mooney who mentioned Shelton's name when he was asked who the best hugger in country music is.

"He might be the longest hugger — he's a lingerer," he said.

Then, Dan Smyers added that Shelton, 49, will "kiss you on the top of your head, too."

Mooney, 33, agreed, and said, "He spins me around backwards, then I'm just nuzzled in there. Then he looks down at my head and kisses me. It's awesome."

According to Smyers, 38, and Mooney, the pair even have a photo of them being kissed by Shelton.

Mooney then quipped that he's "traumatized" by it and added, "Thanks a lot, Blake."

Smyers and Mooney previously appeared as Battle Advisors on The Voice for Team Blake in 2021.

Shelton, who is known for his bromances, planted a kiss on former Voice coach Adam Levine's cheek during his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in May 2023.

During an October 2018 episode of The Voice, the "Texas" singer also kissed the "She Will Be Loved" hitmaker, 46, on the cheeks after the Maroon 5 frontman agreed that Shelton would be a better fit as a coach for a contestant.

"You deserve a kiss for that," Shelton replied while giving Levine a smooch.

Meanwhile, Gwen Stefani shared a post-Thanksgiving snap of Shelton kissing her on the cheek on Friday, Nov. 28.

In the Instagram Stories snap, Shelton can be seen giving his wife a quick kiss on the cheek while she's dressed in seasonal flannel and holds up her phone with a smile. While the photo didn't feature a caption, it showed the pair's loved up holiday celebration.

Last year, Shelton — who has previously headed to Oklahoma with their extended families to mark the occasion — told PEOPLE the one rule that he and the No Doubt frontwoman, 56, have for their home each Thanksgiving.

"Never say no to any kind of food. Whatever you want to try, I'll try it. Just bring it on," he said at the time.

It is a saga dragging on through a second winter, with little guarantee of resolution before the calendar turns and Major League Baseball teams begin assembling in Arizona and Florida.

Still, the St. Louis Cardinals will try to trade Nolan Arenado. And their third baseman might be a little more agreeable to accept the destination.

Arenado, 34 and with two seasons and $27 million remaining on his contract, is no longer a fit for the pivoting Cardinals, who have already dealt ace Sonny Gray to the Boston Red Sox. Yet new baseball operations chief Chaim Bloom still has a key task on his to-do list that predecessor John Mozeliak could not cross off: Find a taker for Arenado, and a destination the 10-time Gold Glover finds agreeable.

Recent returns won't help that cause: Arenado's home run total has diminished sharply the past three seasons, from 30 in 2022 to 26, 16 and 12. That's coincided with a drop in hard-hit balls (39% in 2022, 33% last season) and a rise in groundball rate (30.5%, 36.5%).

Consequently, Arenado was worth 1.3 WAR in 103 games last season, a sharp fall from his career-best 7.9 in 2022. That's the version of Arenado the Cardinals must shop. Yet more than a few clubs can use a steady glove and veteran presence at third base, even if Arenado is not the spectacular defender and dynamic all-around talent he once was.

A look at five potential trade partners for Arenado, who has a full no-trade clause:

1 / 25Top 25 MLB players from 2000-2025 ranked by Wins Above ReplacementSince 2000, future Hall of Famer Albert Pujols' 101.3 Wins Above Replacement (WAR) leads all players, with Alex Rodriguez tied for second ways back at 89.7 WAR. See the rest of the top 25.Arizona Diamondbacks

There is an immediate opening at the hot corner in the desert. And the Diamondbacks' motivation to explore an Arenado deal would likely be informed by two factors: Their confidence, or lack thereof, in prospect Jordan Lawlar and their desire to move on from Ketel Marte.

For now, Lawlar is lightly sketched in at third, though injuries limited him to 114 games in the minors and majors the past two seasons, and he's struggled in limited stints with the big club in 2023 and '25.

Marte is a three-time All-Star, but the relationship with club and player was strained when he extended his All-Star break a couple of days after his home was burglarized. Marte's reasonable contract could attract suitors.

Moving him and acquiring Arenado could bump Lawlar, and perhaps a platoon partner, to second base. Arenado's contract wouldn't be too onerous for Arizona to take on, and it'd be a savings if they move Marte's relatively team-friendly deal, which has $91 million remaining.

Arenado's curious defensive metrics – his Outs Above Average the past four seasons: 14, 5, 10, 3 – would be mitigated paired with cornerstone shortstop Geraldo Perdomo. Not a bad fit.

Seattle Mariners

Hey, at least these clubs have a fairly recent track record making big deals.

The Diamondbacks nearly pushed the Mariners across the finish line to their first World Series appearance, shipping them first baseman Josh Naylor and third baseman Eugenio Suarez at the trade deadline, both players spearheading a run to Game 7 of the ALCS.

The Mariners were so smitten with Naylor that they re-signed him to a four-year, $92.5 million deal. They still need to replace Suarez.

Hmm.

What makes Arenado a nice fit in Seattle is the notion of him serving as a bridge to the passel of elite infield prospects in the Mariners system. Seattle is in win-now mode, for certain, yet also has top prospects Cole Young – who debuted last season – and Colt Emerson banging on the door. Feinin Celesten lurks a little deeper in the system.

With Naylor back in the fold and All-Stars Cal Raleigh and Julio Rodriguez bearing much of the offensive load, Arenado could slide a little deeper in the lineup – he'd look nice in the five hole behind Naylor – and simply play elite defense at third.

Miami Marlins

Let's start with potentially the biggest hurdle: Would Arenado accept a trade to the perpetually-in-flux Marlins?

Heck, he turned down a ready-made opportunity in Houston last winter, so agreeing to a deal in any of baseball's purgatories – and Pittsburgh would be a nice fit, too – seems unlikely.

But let's suspend that reality for just a moment and focus on the Marlins' 49-38 finish – a sample that stretches to June and suggests this wasn't an end-of-season anomaly. Throw in the fact the Marlins are reportedly looking to add payroll, perhaps motivated by baseball's revenue-sharing regulations.

And consider that the biggest thing this team lacks is a veteran presence in a projected lineup where everyone's younger than 30 and four are 24 or 25.

The Cardinals want to unload some cash. The Marlins want to spend some. And Arenado wouldn't even have to switch spring-training environments – simply walking to the other side of the clubs' shared facility in Jupiter, Florida.

Los Angeles Angels

If ever a team would finally cut ties with its veteran albatross at third base, only to enter into an agreement with another highly-paid veteran, well, it'd probably be the Angels.

Reportedly closing in on a retirement settlement with Anthony Rendon – thus ending the $245 million saga with their oft-injured, lineup-averse player – it seems the last thing the Angels would want to do is take on more money for a talent who has seen better days.

Yet owner Arte Moreno seems to enjoy creating the impression that the Angels are this-close to contending, and GM Perry Minasian has dutifully indulged him, drafting a string of close-to-the-majors talents and spackling with short-term free agents to get Anaheim right up around, oh, 72 wins each year.

In this sense, Arenado is a perfect fit, and the price tag not too exorbitant for a club that still somehow draws pretty well.

Additionally, the dude grew up in Orange County – he and Matt Chapman put El Toro High School on the map long before Paul Skenes played there – and might realize there aren't too many superior options in terms of location and, well, playing on an at least serviceable team.

Athletics

Hey, since we're testing the limits of sanity, why not go all-in?

Yeah, it'd be remarkably counterintuitive for a veteran player to accept a deal shipping him to a minor-league park for the final two years of his contract. But let's focus on the down time and imagine Arenado taking a shine to Yolo County.

Arenado would be an hour's flight home on off days. Additionally, the man has an interest in a Napa Valley vineyard and would be an hour's drive should he want to keep an eye on the vines or unwind with a nice bottle of his red.

Would such convenience – and batting in a lineup anchored by burgeoning superstars Jacob Wilson and Nick Kurtz – make up for the creature discomforts of Sutter Health Park? Perhaps a trade reassignment bonus would sweeten the pot – and the A's, too, are trying to keep the revenue-sharing gendarmes off their back.

While Thielen didn't explicitly say it, it's pretty clear the veteran is hoping for a Super Bowl run before he hangs up his cleats. That wasn't going to come with the Vikings. After nearly winning the NFC North last year, the Vikings find themselves at 4-8 this season thanks to poor quarterback play, among other issues. With the playoffs all but out of the question for the Vikings, Thielen will look to hook on with a team still in the hunt.

The 35-year-old hasn't been super involved in the Vikings' offense this season. Through 11 games, Thielen has just eight receptions for 69 yards. He likely wouldn't start on a more competitive team, but could provide solid depth with the playoffs quickly approaching.

Whether he can catch on with another club depends on how the rest of the NFL views Thielen at this point in his career. During his prime, he was a sure-handed, target commander with a knack for getting open in the end zone.

From 2016-2022, Thielen averaged nearly 1,000 yards and 7.7 touchdowns per season with the Vikings. He made two Pro Bowls over that period, earning a second team All-Pro nod in 2017. Though his yardage totals dropped at the back end of that stretch, Thielen made up for it with his end-zone dominance. He caught 14 touchdowns in 15 games in 2020 and 10 in 2021 despite only playing in 13 games.

Following the 2022 NFL season, Thielen joined the Carolina Panthers on a three-year deal. He gained over 1,000 receiving yards in his first season with team.

After a down year in 2024, the Panthers agreed to trade Thielen back to the Vikings in a draft-pick swap. He hasn't emerged as a big option back in Minnesota, though the team does have both Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison on its depth chart, making it hard for Thielen to make a significant impact.

If contending NFL teams still believe Thielen has something left, he could still fulfill his dream of competing for a title before his career is over. If not, there's always the possibility a late injury opens the door for Thielen to get one more shot at a Super Bowl win.
