Reflecting on Jason Kelce's parenting advice, which he shared on his wife Kylie Kelce's Not Gonna Lie podcast, Jenna Bush Hager revealed that her dad was not very serious as she was growing up

"Even though my dad was the leader of the free world... He was just friendly," she said about former President George W. Bush, who is dad to her and twin sister Barbara Bush

Bush Hager added that she is also not the best at making her children listen, but she's found some handy tricks

Jenna Bush Hager was raised by a former president, but it turns out that he wasn't all that strict.

During the Friday, Nov. 7 episode of Jenna and Friends, the 43-year-old host and daughter of former President George W. Bush reflected on some parenting advice that retired NFL star Jason Kelce recently shared.

While on his wife Kylie Kelce's Not Gonna Lie podcast on Oct. 30, the 38-year-old dad of four revealed that he lays down the law to get his daughters — Wyatt, 6, Elliotte, 4, Bennett, 2, and Finnley, 6 months — to listen.

"I mean, honestly, a good, like, 'Look at me right now,' " Jason said on the podcast, adopting an assertive tone of voice. "Have them look at you in the eyes. 'Look at me. Stop what you're doing right now. We are done doing this. You're gonna piss me off. We're done doing it.'"

Kylie agreed with his method, saying, "I feel like as soon as you say, 'Look me in the eyes,' our girls are like, 'S---!'"

Jason imparted his parenting advice while dressed up as Kristoff from Disney's Frozen series, which Bush Hager said made it hard for her to "take him seriously."

However, her co-host Dylan Dreyer agreed that Jason's methods were effective.

"That voice is so booming. I mean, I grew up... My dad, he was like a mechanic. He rode Harleys. He had that booming voice where he didn't have to say much. Half the time, he didn't have to say anything; he just looked at me. And that was enough for me to send myself to my room," Dreyer said.

The former first daughter could not relate to that experience, and she said that she "[wished] she had that" both at her home now with her three children and growing up with her twin sister, Barbara Bush, dad George and mom, former first lady Laura Bush.

"Even though my dad was the leader of the free world... He was just friendly. He was funny and friendly, and we just kind of were like, 'Oh, Popsiccy.' Like he would say something, and we would be like, 'We love you, Popsiccy,' " she said while miming hugging her dad.

In 2017, Bush Hager and her sister revealed to Vanity Fair that they sometimes refer to their father as Popsicle.

Bush Hager — who shares daughters Mila, 12, and Poppy, 10, and son Hal, 7, with husband Henry Hager — noted that she also wasn't the best at making her children listen at home.

"I can get things done, you know? But mainly there's a lot of... When I'm like, 'Girls, I've had it. I've come in here three times. Turn around go to bed.' They just laugh," she admitted, adding that her son is an "angel" in comparison.

She agreed with Dreyer that she reaches the point sometimes where she "just [screams]" and will have to apologize after the fact.

"I've lost it. I've been known to lose it once or twice," she shared.

The mom continued, saying, "But my new thing is like, okay. If you're ready to go to bed at 9... Hal, my angel, is already asleep. I've already put the angel to bed. He's already said, 'Mother, I'm grateful for everything you do for me.' The girls, on the other hand, who are like reincarnates of Barbara and I, are just messing with me."

"Last night I just was like, 'Okay, y'all can laugh at me, but peace out.' And I just turned up my sound machine as loud as I could... and I went to bed."

She jokingly added a final piece of advice, saying: "I think we need to ignore them more."
