On Thursday, Lily Allen spent a cozy Thanksgiving in New York City with good friends, delicious food, and what appeared at first glance to be limited drama.
Taking to Instagram, the artist shared a collection of photos from the week, during which she attended a couple of Broadway shows (Liberation, Queens), ate some breakfast (Golden Diner's pancakes), cheered on Minnie Mouse at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and celebrated the holiday with Lena Dunham and matching baseball caps. "All in a NY minute," she captioned the photo dump.
But of course, no holiday would be complete without a little harmless teasing, and in Allen's post, her ex-husband David Harbour received his "just deserts" in the form of a cheeky French dessert. On the third swipe, a waiter from contemporary French bistro Benoit New York presented the West End Girl with a tray of Madeleines, bite-size butter cakes that, in addition to tasting delicious, served up a bit of humor in relation to one of her album's hit songs.
"Madeline," which details the Stranger Things actor's extramarital affair, quickly became a fan-favorite track for its gut-wrenching honesty, clever lyricism, and catchy melody. Allen previously referenced the song on Halloween, dressing up as the titular character from Ludwig Bemelmans' children's book Madeline.
Followers were also quick to notice a ring upgrade in her Instagram dump, pointed out by Dunham as the two friends posed in "Thanksgiving rejects" hats. In the last slide, Allen matched her green baseball cap with an emerald stone framed with diamonds, worn in lieu of her wedding band and former engagement ring.
The artist later stepped out in the city wearing a black leather midi skirt and matching chunky boots, a gray knit top, and a faux fur coat from Hush. In her hand, she carried a black Hermès Kelly bag, left open in the cool-girl signature style.
