Speaking about her relationship with Ngatikaura, her ex-husband who filed for divorce from Draper on March 19, the MomToker opened up about the "mourning" that she had done in her relationship with him and in the weeks following the news of their divorce.As a result, Draper admitted that she knew that many people wouldn't understand that she was "dating and hanging out and having fun" again.
"When you're in a relationship where you don't feel valued and you don't feel like you were treated well, it feels so nice to just talk to people who make you feel valued and treat you well," she added. Draper continued, sharing that she had frequently received comments from people telling her to "go heal and focus on your children.""What I want to say to that is, two things can be true. I have my kids 50% of the time now, so I am focusing on healing and spending time with them. But when I don't have them, I'm also focusing on myself and reprioritizing being happy, honestly."While Draper admitted that she had worked on healing herself and prioritizing spending time alone, she also felt that another part of healing is "dating and getting to know different types of people, to see what you like and what works for you." Draper also maintained that, moving forward, she did not want to talk "badly" about her previous relationship.
Despite her approach to dating more casually now, Draper also shared that she planned "on being single for a long time," explaining that, since she had been married for 11 years, the biggest thing she was craving was "freedom and independence.""And I can do that while hanging out with people. But I do not want to give up my freedom anytime soon," she added."I haven't been single since I was 19 or 20 years old, and I'm experiencing this world for the first time and doing it publicly, which is crazy.
