Rock star Chris Daughtry surprised fans when he posted a behind-the-scenes clip on Instagram showing how hard it can be to record one short video message.

The clip was full of bloopers, jokes and real moments that fans usually never see. Daughtry said in his caption that most artists "hate recording video liners," but he wanted to share the parts that people never get to watch.

The video was meant to promote "Antidote," the emotional final track from Daughtry's newest EP, Shock to the System (Part Two). But instead of a clean take, the post showed Daughtry stumbling over words, joking around and trying to get his line right.

In the clip, he laughs at his own mistakes, blurts out random jokes and even mispronounces simple words, all while trying to say one short message. At one point, he stops, shakes his head and starts the line again like a student practicing before a school play.

Daughtry's blooper reel comes at a big moment in his career. His new EP, Shock to the System (Part Two), released this September, shows a heavier and more personal direction for the band. It follows a huge year that brought back-to-back #1 rock singles and tours with Creed and Disturbed. This year, starting in October, the band has also been touring with Seether across the U.S.

"Antidote," the song he was promoting in the video liner, is one of the most emotional tracks on the EP. It combines soft piano, haunting vocals and a tense string section.

Daughtry said the song came from a place of honesty, explaining in past interviews that many tracks on the EP helped him open up about feelings he once kept inside.

The behind-the-scenes post also fits into the open, honest direction Daughtry has been taking lately. He has spoken openly about ignoring outside pressure, trusting his own voice and making music that feels true to who he is. His shift to a heavier sound came after years of trying to fit into what others expected. Now, he says he is fully leaning into the music he loves.

He has also been active online, recently calling out fake AI content that used his image. In that clip, he urged fans to stop falling for false posts and reminded them to trust only his official pages.

Sharing these candid moments shows that Daughtry wants fans to see the real him: the artist, the creator and sometimes the guy who just cannot get one video line right.
