Annie Potts sparked major nostalgia after treating her followers with a surprising Ghostbusters moment.
The actress portrayed Janine Melnitz, the sharp-tongued secretary and administrator for the team of paranormal exterminators led by the charismatic Dr. Peter Venkman, played by Bill Murray, alongside Dr. Ray Stantz, portrayed by Dan Aykroyd; the eccentric scientist Dr. Egon Spengler, played by Harold Ramis and Winston Zeddemore, portrayed by Ernie Hudson.
The hit supernatural comedy film debuted in 1984 and was followed by a sequel in 1989.
Thanks to its enduring popularity and cultural impact, the franchise has expanded with modern sequels, beginning with Ghostbusters: Afterlife in 2021 and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire in 2024.

Notably, Potts reprised her role as Melnitz in the four main Ghostbusters films, cementing her place as one of the franchise's most enduring characters.
Over a year since the release of the last installment, the 73-year-old actress ignited the legacy she helped build with Ghostbusters after sharing a selfie on Instagram from a familiar location.
In an Instagram update, the Golden Globe nominee posed outside the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) fire station, famously featured in the film as the Firehouse, Hook & Ladder Company 8.
"What's better than turning a corner in Manhattan and running into a familiar face? Wishing everyone a Happy, Healthy New Year!" she captioned her post, along with a photo of her wearing a fluffy pink beanie that perfectly matched her eyeglasses.

Her post sparked greetings from followers and co-stars, including Iain Armitage from the CBS series Young Sheldon.
Fans even greeted her by her character's name, with one writing, "God bless Janine."
"Headquarters. Happy New Year. Did you find out whatever they wanted?" one asked, referring to a line from the movie.
"Ghostbusters! Whaddyawant?!" another echoed.
A follower also wrote a sweet message for Potts, saying, "I know that corner. Thanks for everything through the years. You've been a foundation of my character and I want you to know how many lives you have touched."
The reaction clearly underscores Potts' memorable role in Ghostbusters and, at the same time, how iconic the movie was to the public.
Meanwhile, the veteran actress also captured the hearts of viewers with her role as Meemaw in Young Sheldon, where she played Connie Tucker, the feisty and outspoken yet loving grandmother of the Cooper kids.
In addition, she is set to play another interesting role in the upcoming medical comedy series titled Best Medicine, the U.S. adaptation of the popular British series Doc Martin.
Viewers will get to watch Potts play the strong lobster woman named Joan, the aunt of the main character, Dr. Best, portrayed by Josh Charles. Best Medicine airs on Jan. 4 on FOX.
