Just after Kidman announced filming on Practical Magic 2 had wrapped, news of her split from Keith Urban broke
True to Practical Magic form, Nicole Kidman felt supported on the set of the sequel to the beloved '90s flick.
While speaking with another iconic onscreen witch, Ariana Grande, for Interview magazine, Kidman, 58, recalled feeling both "loved" and "protected" while filming Practical Magic 2 in London over the summer thanks to a stellar cast. Kidman finished filming just weeks before news of her separation from Keith Urban, her husband of 19 years, broke.
Filming the sequel, in which Kidman and Sandra Bullock reprise their roles as sisters (and witches) Gillian and Sally Owens, "was so fun," Kidman told Grande for the feature published Monday, Nov. 24.
"We had an incredible cast," the Oscar winner recalled, naming costar "Sandy Bullock," as well as newcomers Joey King and Maisie Williams. "A lot of times I don't have fun when I'm filming because it's more—," Kidman explained as Grande filled in the blank: "Emotionally draining."

"Yeah. But I have such a strong relationship with all those women, so I felt protected and loved," Kidman added. "It was just very, very safe."
Grande called Kidman's description of her experience on the Practical Magic 2 set "so beautiful," adding, "There's nothing quite like it, is there?" And Kidman agreed.
"No," the Babygirl actress said. "And to come back to something so many years later and go, 'We're still able to get this movie made at a big big studio like Warner's,' and that Sandy and I were able to produce it and get it made, is insane."
The stars then bonded over the "friendship" they experienced on set. (Grande has publicly spoken about her close bond with costar Cynthia Erivo, as well as their other Wicked castmates, many times.)

After wrapping filming Practical Magic 2 over the summer — which was closely succeeded by news of her split from Urban, 58 — Kidman announced the chapter's end on Instagram, sharing what appeared to be a behind-the-scenes clip of her and Bullock, 61, laughing and embracing.
"That's a wrap on #PracticalMagic2! Thank you to the cast & crew for all your magic," Kidman wrote in the caption of the Sept. 13 post. Less than two months earlier, the actress had first announced her and Bullock's first day on the set of the sequel in a similar fashion.

Two weeks after Kidman shared the BTS footage of herself and Bullock, PEOPLE confirmed that the actress and country singer, who married in June 2006 and share daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, had split.
At the time, a source shared, "Nicole's sister [Antonia] has been a rock, and the entire Kidman family has come together to support one another."
"She didn't want this," added the source. "She has been fighting to save the marriage."
